The all-electric Chevy Blazer packs a punch with its modern technology, sharp design, and unbelievable SS performance. Prices start from $44,995.

The newly unveiled 2024 Blazer EV is no evolved Chevrolet Bolt! It is a huge leap for the company in this EV-driven age of automobiles - and their new all-electric model only adds to Chevy's rapidly growing EV portfolio, further making ownership of EVs more accessible. The Blazer drives straight into the midsize electric crossover segment, and it isn't feeling shy about it.

It is available in various trims and multiple range options. General Motors claims it can manage a range of 320 miles on a full charge, and with front, rear and all-wheel-drive configurations, customers are spoiled for choice. The various trims it comes in include the ILT, 2LT, RS, and Chevrolet's first-ever performance model, the SS. There's even a Police Pursuit Vehicle model for the cops; how cool is that!

The Blazer EV is based on GM's Ultium Platform. The new car heralds the design that is seen on the gas-powered Chevrolet Blazer, with some lines inspired by the Chevrolet Camaro muscle car and the Chevrolet Corvette supercar.

And then there is the red-hot Blazer SS EV! It packs a unique performance AWD propulsion configuration, made to push out 557hp and 648 lb-ft of torque. Plus, it gets an equally unique feature called 'WOW' (Wide Open Watts); the Americans sure know how to market their EV-specific features. Chevrolet claims it can sprint from 0-60mph in under 4 seconds. Gas-powered supercars better duck for cover!

The Blazer EV is one stylish looker; it's hard to find an angle from which it doesn't look good. The athletic styling seems to fit right in with the whole silhouette; it doesn't look like it's trying too hard to be better looked at. The segment in which it slots into is going to witness what is easily the sexiest crossover of them all.

Merely looking at it isn't going to convince you it's an EV, because we could easily think of a turbo gasoline engine fitting inside the bonnet. The sharp details, however, hint at some serious performance. The proportions are spot-on, and it's one those cars that'll make you turn around, and look at it.

The body lines are nice and taut, with a lot of detail that gives it a muscular stance. The front fender extractor vents hark back to Chevy's motorsport legacy. Each trim has its distinct details. The LT gets a monochromatic look and 19-inch wheels as standard; the RS looks sportier with its black grille and other black elements, plus 21-inch wheels.

The SS is the angriest-looking of them all, sporting a unique front grille, a two-tone color theme, and 22-inch wheels. The presence of the RS and SS clearly stand out, with a bold, dual-element LED lighting signature that comes with choreographed lighting sequences, which come on the moment the driver gets closer to the car, or for that matter, walks away from it.

There's a full light bar, along with an illuminated Bowtie logo up-front. All these little elements are integrated into the lighting sequences. You also get to know of the stare of charge via the front lighting, when the car is charging. Once the battery charge is nearly complete, the speed of the lighting increases.

There's nothing about the interior that would have you disbelieve that it belongs on the same car that looks so sick. A lot of the interior elements have been inspired by Chevrolet's high-performance cars, like the flat-bottom steering wheel, specifically available on the RS and SS trims. The AC vents look like turbines; not entirely new to any of us, but a very cool detail nevertheless.

Some feature highlights include a 17.7-inch diagonal color touchscreen that also doubles up as a command center for the car's infotainment system, and the remaining features. The instrument cluster comprises a huge, 11-inch diagonal color Driver Information Center.

The new body architecture is designed to support multiple range options, and all three drive systems: FWD, AWD and RWD. The low and wide proportions, along with the structural positioning of the battery pack, contribute significantly to a low center of gravity, which is bound to result in good grip and stability.

In terms of charging performance, the Blazer comes equipped with an 11.5 kW onboard AC charging module for home charging and public charging, plus a high-speed DC public fast-charging capability of up to 190 kW, allowing it to recharge to take the car up to 78 miles. Owners will be given access to Ultium Charge 360, which simplifies the whole charging experience. There will be access to over 100,000 charging points in the United States and Canada.
